UPDATE: tldr SOLVED; culprit was 180degree spike (or i don't know what the proper terms would be) in rotational values along a single moCap curve between two frames, described in post 2
Hey everyone,
Has any1 encountered this issue... where the simulation like glitches -- almost like at the apex (if that's the right word for it) of the character being upside down?
frames 37 and 38... no matter the combination -- the issue is always right there at the apex of being upside down
and always at substeps 2+ (substep 1 is fine)
i've also tried on two different motionCaptures where the character goes upside down, and it occurs on both, and only on substeps 2+ (I can make video of it happening with the 2nd motionCapture if need for further verification)
also no intersections on relevant meshes at starting point
@ 0:04 second mark & 0:10 second mark
(first clip is camera "None" for worldUpType and second clip is "Scene Up" for worldUpType, to make it more clear that it occurs when the character goes upside-down)
I've tried a buttload of combinations on my actual pectoralis meshes for the past almost 2 weeks now. (and only now have i gotten to the point where nothing worked--and so i made the test above with a simple tube with only 2 attachments at default settings)
[on the actual pectoralis meshes, i've tried the following: ]
i've tried rebuilding on new empty scene
i've tried just changing contact stiffnesses+exp on the attachments themselves and the ztissues and zbones.... switching from volumeConservation to poissons, disabling collisions.... changing collision point spacing
i've tried with/without deltoids..... using a simple single ribcage volume mesh...
with/without deltoids + biceps/coraco + triceps
with/without pectoralisMinor
on top of the exteriorOblique, or just directly attached to the ribs
with/without fibers... different fiber strengths + different youngsModulus
i've tried like just seeing how it goes without any attachments on ribs 2-5
sliding attachments on sternum+rib6 instead of fixed
making fixed attachments on sternum just one row of vertices along the meshes
switching between fixed/sliding between the pecHeads just to see what happens
but it always just ends up like this:
first photo = frame 37
second phoot = frame 38
(in this combination, it's attached to the ribs, not the lambert-gray single-volume-ribcage-mesh)
--maybe my troubleshooting sucks, but the typical things that would normally fix things for me that i'm currently aware of don't seem to be working T.T
but then again, it was only recently i started stress-testing with motionCapture (as in beforehand, my keyframes were crappy, overly simplistic animations to test things with)
so if anyone has experienced this before or can shed some light as to why this might be happening? if i'm being dumb and overlooking something extremely simple... or there's a setting or property i have no idea about.... or something like that please let me know!
that would be greatastic danke!
(if someone responds with ideas, i'll be home from work at my computer at like 11:30pm pst to start implementing stuff)
