I'm not on Windows 11 (and have no need to risk it at this point) and I'm on AMD and I'm pretty far along on my rig -- HOWEVER -- without having to wait on anybody else, what I would do if I were in your shoes would be to: since you're already going to start a fresh new build anyways... install Windows 11 on your current workstation and try Ziva.
You can always contact support to change the MAC Address, if anything. You can also apply for a 60-day eval with a new MAC Address, as said here:
https://support.zivadynamics.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045108673-I-want-an-evaluation-for-my-other-computer-can-I-get-another-one-
In fact, with that said, you can disregard my first paragraph and you can even do that 60-day eval to try out the MAC Address for your current wi-fi dongle, before entering one for your 1-year-indie-license. If it works for the 60-day eval, then it should work for your 1-year-indie-license.
You may not even have to buy new parts. You may not even need to think any further about Windows 11.
BUT if that wi-fi dongle is unreliable... if this is a laptop and easily openable and you're comfortable doing so, you can buy a new wi-fi pcie card and install it... or if this is a desktop and you have an available and compatible pcie slot, you can also buy a new wi-fi pcie card from Amazon like Asus, TP-LINK or Gigabyte or w/e. It'll be cheaper and simpler than buying a new mobo+cpu+ram+w/e you can't salvage. And if it still doesn't work, you can just return the wi-fi pcie card.
Heck, why not even try a new wi-fi dongle, assuming it's nothing else that is inconsistent.
Many ways to go about this.
And then let's say you get it all to work -- if you don't have the patience for the speed of your current system, since you say it's old, THEN you can decide whether or not you want to build a new system. But at the same time understand that part of the nature of working with simulations IS waiting. Until such time where everything can be in real-time, it is the way it is.
And then at the same time again, since you've already invested in a ONE YEAR LICENSE... if you know you are going to commit to this kind of stuff... in that case, upgrading may not be a bad idea. But then this goes back to the first paragraph of trying it out with Windows 11 on your current build.
And if it doesn't, then you can just get the best of last-gen that still works with Windows 10, and possibly save a few bucks.
And hopefully, as you can see throughout this entire reply... how I'm thinking about all the possible combinations of how to solve this one problem, ranging from very simple -- you're going to need it along your journey with Ziva.
