Hey there, I extracted this out of our repo for you today. Unzip it, and drop it in your scripts directory.
Functionality
Will consider proximity between a vertex selection on one object against a list of candidate
objects. For each vertex, the closest mesh found is used as the target for an attachment.
If one mesh is found multiple times for different vertices, those pairings are grouped together to make one
attachment. So you'll never have more attachments than candidate meshes.
Usage:
Select some vertices on a source object, then select some candidate meshes.
Execute the following in the python console in Maya
import attachment_utils
attachment_utils.build_from_multiple_candidates(attachment_stiffness=1, attachment_stiffness_exp=7)
