Hey hey, Ziva Community.
You were all right about alembics being supported in Unity/Sketchfab. I didn't know anything about this file type prior so I've been doing some research, so that was my bad. While the file sizes are large and textures will be challenging, the alembics are working for now.
Andy: I'm learning Ziva to try using motion capture data from our biomechanics lab to drive muscle simulation, and why I'm attempting to export these files as an FBX to add finer details. I'm hoping it can be used for educational purposes using VR. Basically, we're trying to be really cool about this project, and both Sketchfab and Unity support VR.
So far, I've tried blendShaping the simulation to an undeformed base model, and having the blendShape influence always set to 100%, baking the keys under Edit > Keys > Bake Simulation. I've also tried the same tactic with the alembic to an undeformed base model.
Tragically, both attempts didn't work out. I know James mentioned a way to have this work as an FBX and I may try making a script to automate the process. I'll keep trying to figure this out in the mean time as I'm, uh, a relative novice to Maya's deeper mechanics.
Anyway, I hope this answers your question, Andy.
