After trying out Ziva on my last student project and being quite happy with the result, I definitely wanted to use Ziva again - this time for my graduation project! It will be a full cg short film about a human-like alien who goes on a planet to collect a mysterious artefact but things doesn't turn out in his favor.😀
There will be two characters - a human-like alien and a gorilla-like beast and both should be simulated with Ziva. I'll start with the beast since he will profit more of the simulation than the alien(he has quite wide clothing on the upper body).
I used the Ziva transfer tools to transfer the skeleton and muscles from the Mr. Ink asset to my character and did a little clean up pass on that. For the animation I used a free mocap run from Rokoko (new integration in Maya 2020.1 if you don't already know 😀). This animation will only be used for the initial setup. The beast should later move more like a gorilla than a human but the animation isn't ready yet.
I setup the muscles and fat first seperatly and simulated them later together since I got a problem with the collision around the back of the knee because the muscles of the upper and lower leg get there really close and don't let much space for the fat.
Anyway, here is the current wip. Any feedback would be highly appreciated - I'm still unsure if the muscles/fat should jiggle more or not!
Furthermore I'm still unsure about the use/change of young modulus and inertial damping. My character is around 2,6m tall, my solver has the default scale of 100(so 1 unit = 1 cm). In the Mr. Ink asset (which I used as a reference) the young modulus for the muscles are 12.103 (which is the value for skeletal muscles ). However I got too much jiggle with those settings. That's why I increased the young modulus for almost every muscle to 2-3.104 in order to make them stiffer. Is this the correct way or should I leave the young modulus at the default value of 12.103 and use inertial damping for that or something else? I read in the forum that inertial damping is a non-physical attribute that's why I was unsure if or when I should use it. I would appreciate it if someone could give me some informations about this!
Thanks in advance! 😀
