I need some assistance with this topic. I looked at the documentation and have tried out the Harmonic warp and bone warp with some decent success with transferring over geometry but little else seems to work.
Unfortunately I cannot post pics or scene files because of network security permissions, so I'll do my best to explain.
In this example, I tried to transfer Zeke The lion asset to another animal geometry.
Here are the steps I've taken: (if you see any mistakes, please let me know)
- I wrapped zeke's skin geo to my character to ensure identical topology.
- I tried the Harmonic Warp transfer feature by: selecting Zeke mesh, then OtherCreature mesh, then selecting all of Zeke's bones and muscle tisue geo
- I selected Harmonic Warp and waited.
RESULTS: The bones and muscle geo had a pretty decent generic fit my creature. Requiring some minor changes to the muscles and bones. Using this method provided some squished look bones. This method seems to have transfered over clusters and curves....BUT all the attachments in the scene seem to be attached to the newly transfered bones, but NOT the muscle attachments (sliding and fixed). They look like they stay in WORLDSPACE of Zeke and NOT the newly transfered geo. I tried changing the setting the .correspondence setting to VertexID hoping that it would match ...unfortunately, that did not work.
I tried the bone warp, which seemed to do a better job at transfering the bone geometry when compared to the harmonic warp, but that didn't transfer over the muscles using the same positioning. I guess as a workaround I could make all the muscle geo into "bones" so they match.
I tried saving Zeke's ziva rig and loading it onto my creature ...no luck. It just made a new zSolver.
What is the exact workflow if I wanted to transfer Zeke 's entire setup including bones, maya skeleton, skin clusters, curves, muscle geometry, all muscle related settings, attachments etc... over to another character who has the exact same topology as Zeke just in a slightly different form?
Step 1: Select Zeke the Lion skin geometry
Step 2: Select NewCharacter Geometry (with matching topology to Zeke)
Step 3: Select all bone Geometry
Step 3: Select all muscle Geometry
.....????? and then what?
