Simming multiple shots together? Wouldn't that require a 'run down' back to neutral? Can't think of a reason to simulate more frames if not necessary.
The issue with simulating long sequences is iterating. You have to simulate a lot of frames to see what happens at the end of 2000 frames.
If you can spare the time to pipeline splitting your sim into chunks this would be more valuable in my opinion than concatenating shots together.
Chunks would also require more total frames of simulation (you have to run up to the start of every chunk, and you probably want some padding frames either side for stitching the chunks together) but with the big advantage that you can run all the chunks simulatenously on the render wall. You could also just iterate on the individual chunks if you wanted to.
