Hey Everyone,
A question came up around where to install the Ziva VFX plugin and license file. Here are the instructions - we will also add it as a README in the download.
After you complete the online registration process, including selecting the appropriate version for your OS and version of Maya, download and uncompress the zip file. You should now see several files, including (but not limited to) a README, a license file, and another zip file containing the Maya plugin files.
Plugin Installation:
The easiest way to install the Ziva VFX Maya plugin is to unzip the plugin files directly into your local Maya Modules directory. On Windows, this is typically "My Documents"/maya/modules.
For more detailed information on installing Maya modules, see the section "Installing the module" on: http://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2017/ENU/?guid=__files_GUID_CB76E356_753B_4837_8C5B_3296C14872CA_htm
Alternatively, you can manually load the Ziva plugin file into Maya using the Plugin Manager. However, installing the plugin as a Maya Module is the recommended way of making sure you have all of the features of Ziva VFX at your disposal.
License Installation:
The simplest setup is to save the included license file (.lic) in the directory from which Maya is being run (next to Maya.exe on Windows, and probably in pwd
on Linux).
A more flexible solution is to save the license file wherever you like and add an environment variable zivadyn_LICENSE
containing that directory.
For more information on setting environment variables in Maya, see: http://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2017/ENU/?guid=__files_GUID_8EFB1AC1_ED7D_4099_9EEE_624097872C04_htm
Windows Users:
On Windows, users will need to make sure that they have the "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015" from Microsoft. Many users likely have it already. It can be installed by following the instructions on the Microsoft website:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
You should now be ready to start exploring the possibilities of working with Ziva VFX!
